Dancer for African Dance Company, To Sangana

Why I'm a Warrior

"When I was looking for colleges to attend to going into my senior year, I didn't think dance was an option for me when deciding what to pursue in higher education. When I met Meg Paul and the Wayne State dance faculty at Oakland Dance Festival, I had a feeling that I had potentially found a place for me. On my audition day, I knew very soon after leaving that afternoon that Wayne State and particularly the dance department was where I wanted to be. I fell in love with the campus and the amount of versatility that the dance department provided in the curriculum. Since my first day, that is still true. I have grown so much as a creator and a performer through choreography classes, our Pilates program, and performing pieces by amazing faculty and guest artists. I'm surrounded by inspiring artists all over the Wayne State campus that push me to grow in ways I never imagined when I was graduating from high school. I can't wait to see what the next two years hold for me at the dance department at Wayne State University."
