WSU Dancers and Choreographers Earn Honors at American College Dance Association Conference
During the recent East Central Region American College Dance Association (ACDA) Conference held in Athens, OH, several Wayne State University dance choreographers and performers were honored by being selected for the Gala Concert, held at the conference conclusion. Far Nearer, a duet created and performed by Adam McGaw and Ashlee Merritt, and Friday Night, choreographed and danced by Samuel Horning and Dana Yordy, received nods by the guest adjudicators for the strength of the choreography. These works are both in the 85th Annual WSU Spring Dance Concert, entitled "Move Deeply", on March 12 and 13.
The ACDA Gala Concert selection also included Cause a Frenzy, a dance choreographed by WSU alumnus Bryan Strimpel ('11) that was commissioned by Oakland University. Strimpel and fellow WSU alum Jordan Holland ('12) were in residence at OU in the fall teaching classes and resetting Cause a Frenzy, which was originally created on WSU dancers.
Join us in congratulating these Wayne State dancers and dancemakers!
