Student Spotlight: Savanna McFadden

Savanna McFadden is a Detroit-based dance artist and choreographer pursuing a BFA in Dance and a Minor in Queer Studies at Wayne State University. Originally from Macomb, Michigan, she has trained in contemporary, ballet, jazz, and improvisational movement. 

As a performer, she has worked with renowned choreographers such as Jackie Nowicki, BAIRA MVMNT PHLOSPHY, and Brother(hood) Dance! at Wayne State University and has danced professionally with ConteXture Dance Detroit, Dance Uprising, and the Detroit Opera House.

Savanna’s choreographic work is deeply rooted in collaboration, energy, and the fluidity of transitions. Her movement is often described as having an “incredible mystical energy” and a “sense of otherworldly-ness” that captivates audiences. 

Through her artistry, she seeks to create immersive experiences that blur the boundaries between performer and viewer. Whether on stage or in the creative process, Savanna is committed to crafting work that sparks curiosity and emotional resonance.
