Best directors In the local theater scene in Detroit
Detroit plays host to Broadway musicals, operas, ballets and notable plays, and serves as home to a huge array of neighborhood theatres. The theatre community is vast and has many talented directors who transform scripts into theatrical works of art. Among the notable directors is Lavinia Hart, associate professor of theatre at Wayne State University. She also is head of the MFA Acting Program at Hilberry Theatre. Hart previously held the position of artistic director at the Attic Theatre, and has acted, directed and produced over 100 stage productions throughout her career. Also noted in the story are Wayne State alumni: Gary Anderson, co-founder of Plowshares Theatre Company and director and producing artistic director; Jaclyn Strez, PuppetArt Theater; and Frannie Shepherd-Bates, Magenta Giraffe Theatre.
