The concert is a showcase of dance works created by guest artists Wanjiru Kamuyu and Liz Schmidt, recent works by Wayne State dance faculty members Lisa Lamarre, Meg Paul, and Karen Prall, and student dances by Christopher Braz, Michelle Brock, Bill Charboneau, and Sam Horning. The show includes the dynamic and evocative when paradise shatters at its seams then what?, a dance set on WSU dance students by 2012-13 Maggie Allesee Artist in Residence Wanjiru Kamuyu, set to an original music composition by Jua Amir. Meg Paul's dance, Fluxx, is a stylized contemporary ballet with a dash of high octane fuel, filled with dynamic leaps, turns, tosses and catches, while Michelle Brock's work entitled An Inquiry of the Concrete incorporates dynamic projection in a solo danced by senior Emily Durand. To Sangana, the African Dance Workshop company led by Karen Prall, showcases the work set on them by guest artist Papa Hanne, and first-year dance majors round out the program with the creation of dynamic improvisational dances.
