Company One Performs Concerts for Noel Night Dec. 1

The Wayne State University Dance Company 's ON STAGE! Dance Performances for Youth will premiere OUR STORIES - Dancing History, Myths, Fairy Tales and Legends, on Noel Night 2012 in Detroit. This 50-minute production designed to excite the spirit and spark the joy of reading and storytelling for audiences of all ages.

Performances will be at 7:00pm and 8:00pm on Saturday, December 1st. The show is held in the Maggie Allesee Studio Theatre, on the 3rd floor of the Old Main building on the Wayne State Campus, 4841 Cass Ave, Detroit. The cost is $5 at the door.

Using narration, video images, music and dance, OUR STORIES shares personal stories and classic tales through a variety of dance styles. The tale of Swan Lake is told through the medium of ballet, the legend of Makulele through the medium of Afro-Brazilian folk dance, and video game hero Mario of the Mushroom Kingdom is portrayed in a hip hop celebration. Through the medium of contemporary dance the Company ventures down the rabbit hole to visit characters from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. A tap dance pays tribute to present day legend makers, our military heroes here at home and abroad. The production proudly features the work of a present day storyteller, Nycole Ray, dancer, choreographer, director of Dallas Black Dance Company II and former member of the Wayne State University Dance Company.
