The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance at Wayne State University proudly presents Amalgamate, a choreographic showcase of student dance works by candidates for the degrees of Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Science. This annual event will be performed at the Maggie Allesee Studio Theatre (Old Main Building, 3rdfloor, room 3317) on Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14 at 7:30 PM; and on Sunday, April 15 at 3:00 PM. Pre-Sale tickets are available at The Hilberry Theatre Box Office (4743 Cass Avenue, Detroit, MI) for $6.00 (pre-sale only) and $12.00 (day of performance) starting April 1. Tickets at the door will be available one hour prior to performance for each show.

2012 Featured Student Choreographers

Marianne Barcomb is excited to premier her work, "Balance In-between Chaos," as the culmination of her education. She takes her lighthearted approach to life and personifies it through both her movement and use of music from The Beatles and Neil Diamond.

Michelle Cady is presenting her second work at Wayne State University, a study of the different dynamics between variations of loves and how these affect humans.

Nicholas Caramagno is double majoring in dance and film while focusing his primary research in the fields of dance performance and technology. In his current work, Nick uses his studio-theatre projection installation to portray theories of natural attraction alongside interactive multi-media.

In Tina Crockett's latest work exploring the depths of life without fear, she uses her passion for movement and love of all things authentic to captive her audience.

Kierstin Elliott's choreography is inspired by her love of musical theater as the production process unfolds through a choreographer's eyes.

Julia Fowler is presenting a work loosely based around the history of hip-hop and its parallels to mankind. Her work invites and challenges the audience to reconsider any previous assumptions about hip-hop as an art form.

Mikayla Hendry's piece titled Bearings expresses structured athleticism coupled with the individual strengths of its all-male cast. This quintet plays on the male dancers' sensibilities as they explore the meaning of the "guy code."

Taylor Heyn's piece is inspired by circus life and influenced by movies directed by Tim Burton.

Alisa Hicks' latest choreography is a swinging, lively movement that is a reflection on struggle in financial crisis.

Jordan Holland presents The Best of Intentions which explores different emotional tolls as the dancers deal with personal situations through movement.

Brandon Richardson is a contemporary dancer/choreographer whose piece captures the dynamic personalities of the women of James Bond.

Christyn Sherban debuts Mademoiselle, which is inspired by a girl's night out.

Diarra Garfield worked with students at the Detroit School of the Arts as her capstone project. Dealing with teen peer pressure, she is working closely with the students in order to enhance her pedagogical theories.
