Alumnus Ruben Santiago-Hudson appears in 'Capturing Detroit: Owning the Narrative of Our City'

Blair Underwood, Ruben Santiago-Hudson and more set for The Detroit Project events
Native Detroiter and internationally awarded playwright, actress and television writer Dominique Morisseau is returning home with Blair Underwood, Andre Holland and Ruben Santiago-Hudson for a public event around her cycle of Detroit plays, titled "The Detroit Project". The first acclaimed play in the cycle, Detroit '67, about the 1967 uprising, is premiering in Detroit May 13-June 5 with the Detroit Public Theatre at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center. As a kick-off to this production, The Detroit Public Library, Detroit Historical Society, Wayne State University, and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in association with the Detroit Public Theatre and FreeDom's Daughter Productions present: "Capturing Detroit: Owning the Narrative of Our City." This Free event, held on April 17 at 4 p.m. at the Charles. H. Wright Museum's General Motors Theatre, will be an open dialogue/conversation around Morisseau's work, discussing her nationally acclaimed cycle of Detroit plays, and the impact that these stories and others have on shaping the narrative of Detroit.
