"Detroit native Merkerson wins NAACP Image Award"

Several Detroit natives were nominated for NAACP Image Awards this year but only actress S. Epatha Merkerson walked away a winner Friday night. Merkerson, who graduated from the city's Cooley High School and Wayne State University, won an Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role on NBC's "Law & Order." The show came to an end after 20 seasons last year.
