Katie Campbell, Guest Director of "A Christmas Carol"

Katie Campbell is delighted to return to Wayne State since last directing James and the Giant Peach in 2015.  She is a director, performer, educator, and puppet artist currently residing in Little Rock, Arkansas.  In 2007 she found an artistic home in the Natural State as an Associate Director with the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theater, director and performer with the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, and improvisor with ImprovLittleRock and The Joint Venture.  She is also the co-founder and coach of the youth improv comedy company Armadillo Rodeo.  In 2015 Katie received a Jim Henson Foundation Family Grant for her shadow puppet reimagining of The Ugly Duckling and is the 2017 recipient of the Jim Henson Award for Innovation by the Puppeteers of America.  Additionally, she is a board member of TYA/USA, a national membership organization that strengthens the artistic and cultural impact of theatre for young audiences.  She has an MFA in directing Theatre for Young People from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a BA in Theatre from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
